About 100 students and other supporters held the vigil to try to persuade Ryan to support the DREAM Act, a measure that would allow some undocumented students to gain legal status if they attend college or serve in the armed forces. Efforts are under way to pass the measure in the lame duck Congress, but it’s also drawing opposition from anti-immigration forces.
