Good news: We have them on the ropes!
Remember last week, when Joe Lieberman started pushing a bill to create an Internet ‘Kill Switch’ that would let the president shut off the Internet — a whole lot like what Egypt’s authoritarian regime just did to crack down on protests there?
More than 30,000 people have signed our petition demanding that Lieberman back down — and that’s exactly what he’s starting to do.

Lieberman now says he’ll change the bill to add “explicit language prohibiting the president from doing what President [Hosni] Mubarak did.”
That’s great news, but we need to make sure he lives up to his promise! The bill is already full of loopholes and carve-outs — we need to make sure this is a real fix, not just a public relations stunt.
