Fox Rejects Super Bowl Ad With Bible Verse

John 3:16 is part of the culture of football. We occasionally see it on signs in end zones after field goals and extra point attempts; on players’ tape and tattoos; and Tim Tebow was famous for writing it in his eye black. And yet, many fans don’t know what it means. They have yet to be touched by the hope it offers – the immediate relevance it has to their lives.

(Newser) – A commercial deemed OK to run during Sunday’s Super Bowl: a  steamy Kim Karashian hawking Sketchers sneakers. And one that wasn’t: a 30-second spot that includes a Bible verse. Fox Sports has nixed an ad that appears sort of harmless—a bunch of friends who are drinking beer and watching football spot the words “John 3:16” painted onto one of the players faces, and decide to look up what it means on their phone. The commercial ends there, without actually sharing the verse. (Which is “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”)  http://www.newser.com/story/111211/fox-rejects-super-bowl-ad-that-features-john-316-bible-verse.html
