Maine first state to get Obamacare waiver
Maine voted for Obama by a 57%-40% margin in the 2008 election, yet here they are trying to get out of following Obama’s new healthcare law. Maine was the first state granted the waiver, but several other states have petitioned and are waiting to get an answer. Those states are Nevada (voted Obama in ‘08), New Hampshire (voted Obama ‘08) and Kentucky. What does the waiver mean exactly? Read the full story HERE.
The U.S. Health and Human Services department said in a letter it would waive the requirement that insurers spend 80 cents to 85 cents of every premium dollar on medical care and quality improvement.
