Union Head Rich Rogers: ’And to the Republican party of Massachusetts, if you think this is gonna ha ppen here, it is going to be over thousands of dead people’s bodies.”

Monday in Boston, on the steps of the GOP headquarters, the folks from ‘We Are One’ held a little rally promoting their agenda. (Did you forget that April 4th was the kick off of the We Are One ‘Solidarity Days of Action?’)

So what was it all about?

Event Description:

The National AFL-CIO, several International Unions and others have called for actions around the country. April 4, 1968 was the day in 1968 when Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated in Memphis where he had gone to support sanitation workers fighting for a voice at work.

Please join the Greater Boston Labor Council, Boston Teachers Union, Jobs and Justice, Massachusetts AFL-CIO, MTA, 1199SEIU, and SEIU State Council to stand in solidarity with workers in Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, New Hampshire and other states fighting corporate politicians seeking to destroy collective bargaining.

The unions were asked to gather on the 43rd anniversary of the murder of Dr. King, a man of peace.  So they probably called for peaceful protests and non-violence, right?

What is with violence and unions – especially at Boston rallies? Last month we saw House Representative Capuano saying sometimes you have to get bloody in the streets and then yesterday brand new video from the AFL-CIO sponsored ‘We Are One’ rally. At the rally, Boston labor leader Rich Rogers talks about fighting for union rights ‘over thousands of dead bodies’. Unions have a very long history of violence but they seem to be taking it to all new heights lately. No one is physically threatening them. It’s not like decades ago when private corporations did indeed use violence against unions. These are public sector unions who are using extremely violent rhetoric – government employees who are paid with taxpayer dollars. Against who exactly do they wish to be violent – the taxpayers who pay for their unsustainable benefits or the politicians who are trying to reign them in?
Nicole J Pearce of ‘Truth About Bills’ attended the ‘We Are One’ Union rally yesterday and caught the tail end of Rich Rogers’ speech on video. Who is Rich Rogers? According to the Greater Boston Labor Council:

Rich Rogers, the Executive Secretary-Treasurer is a long-time member of UFCW Local 1459 and a member of Painters Local 391. Secretary-Treasurer Rogers was elected in December of 2007 to a second four-year term. Prior to his election, Rogers served on the staff of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO for twenty-one years including twelve years as the state federation’s political director. He currently serves as Chairman of Community Labor United, a dynamic coalition of major Boston area unions and community organizations working together on a broad economic justice agenda.

His own words in reference to reigning in Unions:

’And to the Republican party of Massachusetts, if you think this is gonna happen here, it is going to be over thousands of dead people’s bodies. If you think Wisconsin was anything, we need to stop these guys in their tracks now and kill their bills at the State house.”
Another fine example of civility brought to you by a union boss (who is also a Democrat). Death threats from a teacher in Wisconsin ; AFSCME threatening businesses; and a male Wisconsin Democrat State Legislator telling his Republican colleague ‘You’re f*cking dead’ because she voted YEA on Governor Walker’s budget bill . Is this the new tone of the Democrat Party? Or is this just the typical behavior that the Left and unions have been using for decades?
Why isn’t this violent tone being reported by the main stream media? Will the media wait until someone is actually hurt before they expose this? They jumped all over the Tea Party after Jared Loughner’s murderous rage (which of course was unfounded), yet when there is actual violent rhetoric they remain silent. Public sector unions have had it good for far too long. Cities and states simply cannot afford to continue on the same path without reigning in some control over union benefits. This is for the good of all of the people. Some states are literally on the verge of bankruptcy. The violent tone of the unions and Democrats who are bought and paid for by said unions must be exposed and stopped before someone gets hurt. The media goes to great lengths to find any type of sign that they deem inappropriate at Tea Party rallies yet they remain silent when there are outright implied ‘calls to violence’ from the Left.
