“We have a moral responsibility to deal with this threat to freedom…”

Just recently, I read the results of a Gallup poll that revealed a truly stunning fact:
Fully 79 percent of Americans believe the #2 threat to our nation’s future well-being is the explosive growth of the federal government.
The #1 threat was terrorism–by just one percentage point!
Let that sink in for just a moment. A large majority of Americans feel Islamic terrorism and our own government are vying for the #1 and #2 threats to the “future well-being of the United States”!
Millions upon millions of Americans feel that big government poses a future threat to them and their families and-worse yet-is having a negative impact on their daily lives right now.
Speaking of our nation’s fiscal and social challenges, House Speaker John Boehner recently said: “We have a moral responsibility to deal with this threat to freedom and liberate our economy from the shackles of debt and unrestrained government.”
We are in the midst of a national crisis during this session of Congress about the power of Washington over the economy and the family. But the support you and other friends have provided to FRC has left a positive mark on our nation.
We have opposed intrusive big government every step of the way. We have won many important victories and made a lot of liberals angry along the way because of how effective you have helped us become, especially in working with a handful of allied organizations.
For example, U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), a Senator known for his very liberal policy positions, attacked FRC by name for being “a heavy anchor bogging down the budget.” The entire federal budget! We earned his “compliment” for our opposition to deficits and continued taxpayer funding of government programs that undermine the values of millions of families, including abortion in the District of Columbia and scandal-plagued abortion giant Planned Parenthood.
Were it not for you, Family Research Council, and a few allies in the conservative movement, liberals would have shipwrecked America on the rocks of fiscal and moral irresponsibility. We can’t give up now.
Frankly, the intensity of the battle–and the increased calls for help from members of Congress–has taken a toll on our finances. We can’t afford to cut back our efforts to defund the left and shrink the government at this key moment, but we must have help from friends like you.
P.S. Senator Schumer is right when he says that FRC and its friends (like you!) are a threat. Thank you for your donation at the above link to help the Senator’s fear come true–his fear that Washington will stop funding the Left and attacking America’s families.
