DEARBORN, Mich., April 30 (UPI) — Police in riot gear prevented an angry crowd from rushing Florida Pastor Terry Jones as he spoke out against Islam in Dearborn, Mich.

Jones made his speech Friday on the steps of Dearborn City Hall, lashing out against Islam and President Barack Obama, although much of what he said was drowned out by a group of protesters across the street, the Detroit Free Press reported Saturday.

Jones allegedly provoked the crowd, and when angry protesters pushed past police barricades, dozens of police officers in riot gear stepped in to separate the two sides.

“His goal was to start trouble,” said Dearborn Mayor John O’Reilly Jr.[No it was not. His goal is to show us that Sharia law is a threat to America precisely BECAUSE of what’s happening in Dearborn, where free speech is on the verge of winking out.] “That shows his real character.”

O’Reilly said Jones is a troublemaker who promotes fear among Americans during a time of economic concern[what a ridiculous connection]. His goal, O’Reilly said, is to make money for his Florida church. “He’s got an online business of creating fear and hatred,” O’Reilly said. [And your job, O’Reilly, is to make damned sure he can continue to do what he has the Constitutional right to do. You don’t have to like it or approve of it or prove whether there’s any truth to your opinion of his job or not; your job as mayor is to uphold the Constitution, not take it away from anyone, as you tried to do there.]

Jones started his rally by saying parts of the United States, including Dearborn, are under Shariah, or Islamic law. “We will not allow Shariah to be instituted” in the United States, Jones said. [And this, apparently, was enough for O’Reilly to claim he’s a trouble-maker! No mention of who made up the mobs who were trying to attack Jones, here, at all. Muslims, you think?]

Jones caused riots [no, Jones did not; the MUSLIMS did the rioting] in Afghanistan and Pakistan when he announced he would burn a Koran at his Florida church earlier this year. [No mention of the fact that mad/crazy Afghanistani Muslims have killed/murdered/slain Christians and Jews in retaliation, either. THEIR hands are dirty and bloody, not Jones’.]

The mayor expresses the bully on the block behavior almost perfectly: appease it. How long are we supposed to accept that we all in America must do what the bully wants?
