Special election in New York’s 26th: District JACK DAVIS ASSAULTS CAMERAMAN, REFUSES TO DEBATE

NY-26th “independent”, previous Democrat, ACORN and Working Families candidate, Jack Davis hits reporter asking him questions after David Bellavia endorsement BBQ…God help NYS….what a choice, a progressive, a RINO and a socialist who endorsed partial-birth abortion…

I  am very upset with this whole “special election” in NY-26th. The NYGOP sold the seat to the highest bidder, Jane Corwin and the war hero/author David Bellavia got the shaft…and to make matters worse, Bellavia is now supporting the socialist in the running, Jack Davis…WNY just can’t catch a break…this system here, as well as through out New York is CORRUPT and it is ALL PARTIES. Including the Conservative and TEA Party.

Folks in Western New York are sure learning a lot about the real Jack Davis lately.

First they learned that Davis ran for Congress three times as a Democrat. The Buffalo News even reported that Jack Davis “couldn’t be happier” that he had a hand in creating Nancy Pelosi’s Democratic Majority in Congress in 2006.

Then they learned he supported President Obama.

Now he’s dodging debates and physically attacked a Republican volunteer, proving he doesnt have the temperament to be a United States Congressman.

Add FreedomWorks to the list of conservative groups coming out against Davis. The national tea-party aligned group, led by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-Texas) said their political action committee will begin a campaign “to educate voters” about Davis’s Democratic past.

They’ll begin “engaging a boots-on-the-ground, grassroots strategy that will leverage its membership base in the district in concert with allied tea party groups such as “TEANewYork” to spread the word concerning Davis’ big government leanings and the danger of handing liberals a victory if conservative voters are divided,” according to a statement the group released.

“Considering Jack Davis’ leftist resume, his candidacy as a ‘tea party’ candidate is either a sad attempt to raise his own personal political profile or an underhanded strategy to hand the seat to the Democrat contender,” FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe said. “Either way, it’s a slap in the face to New York 26 voters and the larger tea party movement and FreedomWorks PAC will ensure that this message is delivered throughout the district in advance of the May 24th special election.”

Davis has announced he’s pulling out of Thursday morning’s debate on WRGZ-TV in Buffalo. The debate was slated to be streamed online Thursday morning and broadcast later that afternoon throughout the district.

Davis’ decision comes as Republican-aligned groups have been piling on him; they believe he is pulling votes away from Corwin and skewing the race in the Democrats’ favor. This morning, the Tea Party Express also blasted Davis’ candidacy and said they may also wade into the race.

“Jane Corwin and Kathy Hochul are professional politicians. They are lying about me and my record. They lied about their own past history, taking credit for work done by others,” Davis said in a statement.

“In the real world, any employer would fire both of them for dishonesty. Sadly, their behavior is considered politics as usual. I refuse to accept it.”

“My morality and upbringing require me to tell the truth. My opponents have no such loyalty to the truth, ” Davis continued. “I will not lend my integrity and my reputation for honesty to a forum with two politicians who will say anything to get elected. After thinking about this long and hard, I have come to a decision that I will not participate in the alleged debates. ”

Instead, Davis said he will hold an “electronic town hall” this Saturday, May 21, “where voters can ask me any question they want and get an honest answer.

Republicans are already seizing on what could well be a ready-made soundbite for an attack ad against Hochul. Appearing on MSNBC’s “Hardball” last night, host Chris Matthews asked Hochul whether she liked the work former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi showed as leader.

Hochul responded, “You know, she’s done a great job for this country.” And while she went on to talk about being an independent Democrat and her opposition to changes in Medicare – the Pelosi soundbite is one Republicans likely won’t let her forget.

Republicans are continuing to take down independent candidate Jack Davis, this time enlisting losing New York gubernatorial nominee Carl Paladino to blast the candidate running on the Tea Party Line.

“I’m still mad as hell, but this time it’s because Jack Davis is lying. I’m mad as hell because he’s claiming to be a Tea Party candidate, while supporting Nancy Pelosi, endorsing Barack Obama and supporting radical liberal policies like partial birth abortion,” Paladino writes. “He flew in a company from California to get voters’ signatures and create a fake Tea Party line on the ballot… despite being told that the Tea Party represents a movement, not a political party.”

As both American Crossroads and the National Republican Congressional Committee have begun hammering home a similar message, Paladino points out that Davis endorsed President Obama in 2008 and also supported now-Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

“He may be running as a Tea Party candidate, but don’t be fooled – Jack Davis is a Democrat,” Paladino writes.

Davis has gotten the endorsement of the Western New York Tea Party Coalition, but TEA New York, the region’s largest Tea Party group, endorsed Corwin and has been very critical of Davis and his self-created Tea Party line for the May 24 ballot.

Paladino, who lives just outside the district, briefly considered running for the seat himself, but instead passed and backed Corwin when she was vying for the GOP nod. In last year’s gubernatorial contest against Democrat Andrew Cuomo, Paladino won 58 percent of the vote within the district.

Jane Corwin Responds: Video: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/videonetwork/941573259001/Jane-Corwin-Asked-About-Jack-Davis-Video

In a YouTube video being circulated by the Erie County GOP, 26th District congressional hopeful Jack Davis is seen responding to repeated questioning of why he backed out of today’s debate with a question of his own.

“You want to be punched out?” he asks the unseen man behind the camera in the parking lot outside an event in Greece, then takes an apparent swipe at the camera.

The party, which is backing Davis’ opponent, Assemblywoman Jane Corwin, has identified the individual as a party volunteer and claims he was assaulted. The man is heard several times groaning “aagh,” as the camera swings wildly.

Today, the Davis campaign responded, and went after his opponents for allegedly “sending out trackers, they are sending out their little thugs, and they are trying to push Jack around,” campaign manager Curtis Ellis said.

“They were harassing Jack from the moment he stepped out of the event honoring our veterans,” Ellis said. “They had been following him across the parking lot shouting, ‘You’re a coward.’”

All that is heard on the 15-second clip posted online is the person repeatedly asking Davis, “Why did you back out of the debate?”

Davis, an enrolled Republican who ran for the seat three times as a Democrat, withdrew Wednesday afternoon from today’s debate hosted by the Democrat and Chronicle and WGRZ at the station’s Buffalo studios. Democrat Kathy Hochul and Republican Jane Corwin did attend.

Ellis downplayed the apparent physical confrontation, saying the man then “shakes his camera and squeals like an 8-year-old girl. … This was a put up job.”

The Erie County GOP did not immediately respond to a phone call seeking comment.
