Terror Task Force Investigates Cabbie

Federal agents and police are questioning a local taxi driver who was arrested after investigators found suspicious materials in his Irving apartment.

Police said it started with a report of a fire in an apartment in the 3600 block of Block Drive in Irving around 11 a.m. Sunday morning. Firefighters called police to when they found suspicious materials inside the apartment where the fire started.

Members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Irving police, bomb squad, and HAZMAT were called to the scene. Several nearby apartment were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. Officials have not disclosed what materials where found in the apartment.

Police said 41-year-old Sharif Ahmed Nour, who lives at the apartment, was arrested and charged with possession of prohibited weapons, a third degree felony.

Officials said there is no immediate threat to public safety. The cause of the fire has not been released.
