State GOP: Why Are Schumer & Gillibrand Reluctant?

New York State GOP Chairman Ed Cox today questioned both US Senators from New York for their failure to call upon Congressman Anthony Weiner to resign.”Both Senator Schumer and Senator Gillibrand should ask for Mr. Weiner’s resignation” Cox stated. “I could understand their initial reluctance as the three of them are friends and allies, but each day it becomes more and more apparent the Congressman has violated the public trust and abused the privileges of his office.

“Most recently we have learned that Mr. Weiner texted photos of himself taken in the House gym. We have also seen semi-nude photos taken in his Congressional office and there are reports some of the calls he made were from a Congressional telephone.

“Senators Schumer and Gillibrand should join Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democratic National Chair Debby Wasserman Schultz in asking Weiner to step down. This national distraction has gone on long enough. They need to get back to the important issues facing our country.”
