Public Education Failure – Simple American History Questions Too Hard For Americans

It’s no secret that America’s public education system is crumbling. Every year that our bright children are incarcerated in public schools, their performance gets worse. And the worst subject?

You guessed it; American History!

Just 13 percent of high school seniors…showed solid academic performance in American history…The two other grade levels tested didn’t perform much better, which just 22 percent of fourth-grade students and 18 percent of eighth-graders scoring proficient or better…Of the seven tested subjects on the national test, students performed the worst in U.S. history.

I wonder if it has to do with the emphasis on false accusations against our Founding Fathers, on America’s mistakes, and memorizing dates? It’s almost like the left doesn’t WANT us to know American history

Simple Questions About Politics that People Can’t Answer

By DanJoseph | Tuesday, June 14, 2011

You would think that the quintessential symbol of the American political system, the White House, would attract tourists who are knowledgeable or at least interested in or curious about American politics.

You would be wrong.

On Monday, I went over to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. with a camera and asked visitors from around the nation some ridiculously simple questions about politics in modern America.

The results were, in a word, depressing.

Get some Kleenex people. Because this is going to make you weep for your country, or laugh until you cry.

U.S. students don’t know much about American history, according to results of a national test released Tuesday. Just 13 percent of high school seniors who took the 2010 National Assessment of Educational Progress — called the Nation’s Report Card — showed solid academic performance in American history.

The two other grade levels tested didn’t perform much better, which just 22 percent of fourth-grade students and 18 percent of eighth-graders scoring proficient or better.
