Reid, Kerry Solicit Cash on Behalf of New Democratic ‘Super PAC’


Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has given his blessing to a new big-money super PAC and wrote a fund-raising missive on the group’s behalf, the Center for Responsive Politics’ OpenSecrets Blog first reported Wednesday. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), the Democrats’ 2004 presidential nominee, also issued a similar endorsement. Super PACs, a new breed of political group that may raise and spend unlimited sums of money to support or oppose political candidates, are prohibited from coordinating directly with candidates.
