$en. $tephen $aland, R-Poughkeepsie, sold his soul to the highest bidder,

he met privately with Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Cuomo praised $aland, saying he was “magnificent to work with.”

$aland said he voted his own will instead of what his constituants wanted, his decision was based in part on the possibility he might retire next year.

He knew then he would vote “yes” and be the crucial 32nd vote for the measure to pass.

There is not enough religious protection for entities but enough to afford them greater protection nonetheless.”

GOP $enator, $en. Mark Grisanti of Buffalo, also voted yes. Conservative groups vowed to spend $2 million next year to defeat him and other Republicans who supported the bill.
Four Senate Republicans voted yes; the GOP holds a 32-30 seat majority.
