NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre reacts to the Senate hearings on “Project Gunwalker” saying “this is what a Department of Justice coverup looks like.”
Project Gunwalker was an ATF program to purchase guns in the United States and then take them across the border to Mexico — ostensibly to identify gun running cartels — but instead, since ATF agents had no jurisdictional law enforcement authority in Mexico, they had to merely watch guns by the truckloads head south. Conveniently, the Obama Administration would then claim that 90% of the guns used in crimes in Mexico were from the United States, opening up an avenue for additional gun control measures.
LaPierre went on to say that what the Senate hearings have revealed is that “the largest gun running organization to the Mexican cartels is…..the Obama Administration.”
