Dear Patriots:
This week, I have received many e-mails and calls regarding the debt ceiling crisis. Many have supported the idea of House Speaker John Boehner’s plan, while many more believe we should insist on the cut, cap and balance bill that passed the House last week.
I will not be a pawn for the Republicans or the Democrats. We are experiencing an epic level of failure of leadership on all levels and political parties. Fewer than 10 years ago, America was on track to have a budget surplus. Unfortunately, President George W. Bush ran up the deficit by more than $400 million per year, but President Obama managed to spend more than $1 trillion and called it “savings.”
How hard can it be to cut spending and balance the budget? It is like Congress is arguing about the deck chairs after the Titanic was sinking.
The media, liberals in Congress and Obama administration are now starting to blaming the Tea Party for the current crisis, while the Republicans point their fingers at the Democrat-ruled Senate and Oval Office. The only plan/budget President Obama presented was voted down 97-0 that included every Democrat Senator. Last week, the US House passed a watered down version of the Cut, Cap and Balance Bill, but the US Senate failed to bring it to the floor.
It appears that the first rule in D.C. must be: Never take responsibility for your actions or duties. There has been more than 800 days since the federal government passed a budget. The US Constitutions does not make exceptions for situations when there are opposing political parties holding different branches of offices.
Now, Washington, D.C., wants to blame the Tea Party for the debt crisis. Senator John McCain even derided us by calling us ‘tea party hobbits’ in debt ceiling fight. I remember the the famous line from the movie “Josey Wales. “Senator – Don’t go pissing down my back and tell me it’s raining.” I am tired of the excuses. Do your job!
