Obamas got a new excuse to not secure our southern border that will have his leftist cronies chomping at the bit to throw the border wide open.
A group of econuts are now demanding additional openings in the U.S.-Mexico border fence or the complete removal of the barrier in key areas of animal migration because some wildlife populations are at risk.
But the save the animals approach to securing, or rather not securing, our border with Mexico is nothing new.
The Mexican government was the first to bash the border fence for the sake of wildlife back in 2007 when construction began.
They also threatened to file a complaint with the International Court of Justice to get their way if the U.S. didnt build live fences of cactuses, or permeable barriers to allow water, insects and pollen to cross the border.
Mexico even argued that the Rio Grande was an adequate border despite water levels that are often low enough to allow individuals to simply wade illegally into our country.
In January 2009, US Customs and Border Protection committed $50 million to fund the mitigation of unavoidable impacts to natural and cultural resources from construction of the barrier but it isnt enough for the environmentalist lobby in Washington.
According to the latest environmental outcry, the wildlife most at risk from the 1000 km of fence that actually exists along the border includes the Arroyo toad, the California red-legged frog, the black-spotted newt, the Pacific pond turtle, and the jaguarandi (Puma) which is endangered on both sides of the border.
There are already 100 openings for wildlife incorporated into the fence just along the Texas-Mexico border.
But thats not good enough for the turtles and toads trying to maintain a diverse genetic pool.
No, the econuts want the border fence removed or additional openings large enough for bobcats and coyotes (and more likely, humans!) added to the fence.
Weve all seen the power held by the leftist lobby in Washington when it comes to using the environment as an excuse for putting our countrys security and our economy at risk whether its not drilling in ANWAR because a caribou might by spooked by the pipeline or destroying thousands of farms in California because irrigation negatively impacts the local minnow population.
And we absolutely cannot let that type of policy open the few miles border fencing protecting our nation from illegal immigration and drug-trafficking.
The study conveniently forgot to include the impact of high-level illegal migration and drug-trafficking on the local wildlife. It also failed to mention the implications of additional openings or the removal of the fence would have on illegal immigration and the drug trade and how increased human traffic in those areas would affect the wildlife.
Patriots, we MUST make sure Washington is paying more attention to the real risk to the future of our country illegal immigration.
Right now, at least 12 million illegal immigrants are living in our country of whom seven million have stolen jobs that should be held by Americans and lowering wages for unskilled labor by increasing the number of available workers.
Countless illegal immigrants or children of illegal immigrants taking advantage of our welfare system paid for by Americans and intended to assist U.S. Citizens in need not to mention draining resources meant for the education of our children.
We cant let the econuts destroy the progress weve made against illegal immigration and dismantle what little border there is for the sake of maintaining a frogs genetic diversity.
