Three African refugees were arrested after what police described as a fake bomb was found in one of their carry-on bags during security screening at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, police said Tuesday.
Phoenix police didn’t yet know what the motive was behind the Friday incident and weren’t ruling out the possibility of a terrorism connection, Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
“We’re taking it seriously, not just because of the substance they were trying to take on board a plane, but also the 10-year anniversary of 9/11 and the proximity of that date to now,” Martos said.
Fox news in Phoenix Arizona reports that a woman is in big trouble — all because of something she apparently tried to carry through airport security at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix.
According to the report, the woman has been accused of trying to sneak a fake bomb past TSA agents — she claims it was all to test airport security.
On Friday, TSA agents found a simulated explosive device inside a carry-on bag at the Terminal 2 checkpoint. Police say the device they found looked just like a homemade bomb.
What raised suspicion was a container filled with some sort of paste-like substance, with a cell phone taped to the top.
