Muslim consultants LIED to Park Service
Few people know that the Park Service handed-off its investigation into claims of Islamic symbolism in the Flight 93 Memorial to a pair of Muslim consultants. Not surprisingly (given orthodox Islam’s instructions to lie in the service of Islamic conquest), these Muslim consultants both told the most blatant lies. Tom Burnett and I have been running a large advertisement in the Somerset Daily American all week, documenting the lies of these Muslim consultants, along with supporting lies told by the Park Service itself and by their one non-Muslim consultant. We MUST blow the lid off of this monstrous cover-up.
Academic charlatan calculates the direction to Mecca, then tells the press that there is no such thing as the direction to Mecca
The Service’s first consultant (the one non-Muslim in the group) is a professor of “geospatial information” at the University of Texas named Daniel Griffith. I managed to get a copy of Griffith’s report to the Park Service (originally written for the Greensburg Tribune Review). It begins by calculating the direction to Mecca (“I computed an azimuth value from the Flight 93 crater site to Mecca of roughly 55.20°”), then it confirms that the Crescent of Embrace (now called a broken circle) does indeed point almost exactly in this direction.
Griffith actually grants that the Crescent of Embrace points a mere 0.62° north of Mecca, when in fact it points a little less than two degrees north of Mecca. Either is highly accurate by Islamic standards.
But this confirmation of the Mecca-orientation is not what Griffith tells the press. Asked whether the giant Islamic-shaped crescent actually points to Mecca, he denies that there is any such thing as the direction to Mecca, telling the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that: “anything can point toward Mecca, because the earth is round.” Or, as he put it to another reporter: “you can face any direction to face Mecca.”
Ludicrous. That’s like saying you can go in any direction to get from Boston to San Francisco. Really? You don’t have to go west? You can go south?
The Park Service knew Griffith was lying because they have his actual report. Thus the Service’s own repeated denials to the press that the giant crescent faces Mecca are also lies.
Professor of mosque architecture lies about one of the most familiar of all Islamic doctrines
Learning from Griffith that that the crescent/broken-circle actually does point almost exactly at Mecca, the Park Service then selected a pair of Muslim consultants to evaluate the Islamic significance of their giant Mecca-oriented crescent. Could it possibly be seen as a mihrab, the Mecca direction indicator around which every mosque is built? After all, the classic mihrab IS crescent shaped.
One Muslim consultant, a professor of Islamic architecture at MIT named Nasser Rabbat, claimed that in order to be a legitimate mihrab, the crescent would have to point exactly at Mecca. That is a bald lie about one of the most familiar of all Islamic doctrines. Throughout Most of Islam’s 1400 year history, far-flung Muslims had no accurate way to determine the direction to Mecca. Thus it developed as a matter of religious principle that what matters in intent to face Mecca, not actual orientation on Mecca. Many of the most famous mihrabs point 20, 30, 40 or more degrees away from Mecca and it matters not one whit.
Every practicing Muslim knows that they only need to face very roughly towards Mecca for prayer because they are constantly availing themselves of this allowance when, five times a day, they seek out walls that they can pray towards that will leave them facing roughly towards Mecca. No one would know this better than a professor of mosque architecture like Nasser Rabbat.
No one has ever seen a mihrab anywhere near this BIG before
The other Muslim consultant, a professor of sharia law at Indiana University named Kevin Jaques, came up with an almost comically dishonest rationale for dismissing concern about the giant Mecca-oriented crescent: don’t worry, no one has ever seen a mihrab anywhere near this BIG before. Not so funny is the Park Service’s eagerness to embrace such a transparently dshonest excuse.
