Sometimes I think these public-leader-type people live in caves. It may be the “third largest religion” in the US (though that’s a big stretch with only 2.5M Muslims in the US), but it is NOT ID’d as a religion in any other country in the world.
A not-seriously-deep search will turn up all the reasons why it’s not on a level with Christian holidays . . . and note that the Christian holidays are legal holidays, because our Congress used to know that we were founded on Christian principals. If they’d thought Islam was the way to go, they’d’ve made Islam our founding principles. They didn’t.
I can’t think of one reason, in this case, why tradition should be changed, either.
Islam is completely foreign to our way of thinking, and not something to celebrate en masse, which is why we have holidays, isn’t it? The video lists 3 Islamic holidays: Ramadan, Eid al Fitr, and Eid al Adha. Ramadan is a month-long celebration of Allah’s appearance (thru the Angel Gabriel) to Muhammad, which has resulted in 270M deaths in hundreds of wars (and still going on today, as in Darfur, for example, as well as the recent slaughter of Copts going on in Egypt) in 1400 years. Eid al Fitr is the big blow-out excitement, celebrating the end of Ramadan. Eid al Adha is the celebration of Abraham not killing Ismael (Yes, Ismael), which allowed for Muhammad’s eventual appearance in the world . . . which led to the 270M dead, etc., etc.
