NY Kathy Hochul’s non-answer on Stopping SOPA

Can you BE any more vague?

Dear [Constitutent],

Thank you for taking the time to contact me with your views about online piracy. It is critical that I hear from my constituents so that I may best represent you and your priorities in Congress.

Introduced by Congressman Lamar Smith (TX-21), H.R. 3261, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), is an effort to prevent the theft of online intellectual property. This bill would narrow the definition of a “rogue” website – one that is dedicated to infringing activities – and provide increased authority to law enforcement to address online piracy.

H.R. 3261 is currently pending before the House Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Competition and the Internet. Although I do not sit on this Subcommittee, please know that I will keep your views in mind should this legislation be brought to the House floor.

Thank you again for contacting me. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my D.C. office at (202) 225-5265 or visit my website at http://hochul.house.gov.

Sincerely,

Kathleen C. Hochul
Member of Congress
