A video released January 23, 2012 by the Madad News Agency, the media arm of the AQAP-affiliated jihad group Ansar Al-Shari’a, allegedly shows U.S. soldiers in the Yemeni capital Sanaa. The soldiers are seen at the city’s Sheraton Hotel: The video zooms in on photos of them as they stand on the roof of the building, and on another photo showing them walking around it. The video, dated November 2011 and posted on the jihadi website Shumoukh Al-Islam, is evidently meant to send a threatening message to the U.S. that its servicemen are being watched and are vulnerable to attack by the mujahideen.
