U.S. SENATE: ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS MUST COMMIT THREE DUI’s BEFORE THEY CAN BE DEPORTED

On Thursday, the Senate approved a measure which would make three DUI convictions an aggravated felony, and a deportable offense. Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) introduced the measure as an amendment to the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2011 (S. 1925) but the original version, which called for the policy to be applied retroactively to all DUIs, was quickly shot down in committee by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT). So, to recap – it will take not one but three convictions recorded AFTER the bill becomes law for an illegal immigrant to be sent packing.

SMUGGLERS ALLEGEDLY USE BLACK DRIVERS TO AVERT SUSPICION AT BORDER

Maria Lopez-Diaz, a 60-year-old woman from Compton, CA, tried to cash in on racial profiling by hiring mostly African American drivers who did not speak Spanish to drive illegal immigrants from Mexico to Los Angeles. Fortunately, her elaborate plan to deceive U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol failed after agents noticed an unusual pattern in early 2010 that involved African Americans, mostly from Compton, transporting up to six immigrants in the trunks or hidden compartments of cars.

Lopez-Diaz and four others were charged Thursday, with one suspect – 32-year-old Yvette “Hazel” Binford – remaining at large. The smuggling ring, headed by Lopez-Diaz and two family members recruited the jobless, homeless, or drug-addicted enticed by a few hundred dollars’ to work as drivers. So far, 21 drivers have been identified. And yes, Lopez-Diaz and her two family members involved are illegal immigrants.
