Iceland Worm Monster Caught on Camera


A lot can be said to be Iceland’s version of the Scottish Loch Ness. The Worm Monster has been the subject of sightings as far back as 1345.

Obviously described as a worm-like creature, witnesses say it is long and massive. Sometimes the Worm Monster is described as having the length of a football field. It can leave the water to wander along the shore, so be wary if you decide to walk along that lake.

The Reykjavík Grapevine relates one story of a sighting in 1963, when Sigurður Blöndal, head of the National Forrest Service, “witnessed a long streak that moved along the water, rising and falling above the water level.”

Check out this video. Could Hjörtur Kjerúlf’s sighting be similar to what Sigurður Blöndal saw? If so, perhaps there be monsters in the lake…
