If you have high blood pressure, sickness, or distress in any way, you probably have anxiety. It’s a stronghold that needs to leave before your health is dangerously affected. Be forewarned: it is a stronghold that grips tightly. But one we can smash.
Anxiety is a thief. It has only one thing in mind. That is to take your life. It steals your peace and joy and separates you from everything good in the life God has given you. Anxiety is not only psychologically induced, it also creates a physiological state of being. Worry, stress, fear, uncertainty, doubt, strife, and many other strongholds are connected to it, It can ultimately destroy its victims if we allow it.
In order for us to be anxiety free we will need to take authority over this stronghold for the rest of our lives. Jesus gave those of us who believe, the authority to cast out this demonic entity.
Biblical tips to overcome the stronghold of anxiety:
1. Keep focused on what God has promised to those who love him.
Psalm 94:19 When I worried about many things, your assuring words soothed my soul.
2. Refuse to give in to anxiety.
Do not allow the cause of your anxiety to take control over you.
Matthew 6:25-34
1 Peter 5:7 Turn all your anxiety over to God because he cares for you.
3. Relax. God is in control and he wants you to have joy and life everlasting.
John 10:10 A thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But I came so that my sheep will have life and so that they will have everything they need.
Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart trusted him, so I received help. My heart is triumphant; I give thanks to him with my song.
4. Trust God. There is no substitute for faith in Christ Jesus. God knows everything about you and your situation. He loves you with an everlasting love.
Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the person who trusts the Lord. The Lord will be his confidence. 8He will be like a tree that is planted by water. It will send its roots down to a stream. It will not be afraid in the heat of summer. Its leaves will turn green. It will not be anxious during droughts. It will not stop producing fruit.
5. Choose wisely. Filter your input, your friends, and your thoughts.
Deuteronomy 30:19 I call on heaven and earth as witnesses today that I have offered you life or death, blessings or curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants will live.
6. Think about good things. If you still have anxiety and are not able to trust God, be saved and accept the authority he has given you over strongholds.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, keep your thoughts on whatever is right or deserves praise: things that are true, honorable, fair, pure, acceptable, or commendable.
Don’t give into religious spirits that tell you the authority is no longer available to believers.
Regarding the physiological and until you develop your authority as a believer:
To overcome the physiological aspects of anxiety, sit or stand up straight, relax your shoulders, take a deep breath, relax your face, take another deep breath. Get some exercise every day.
Breathe long and deeply. To quickly stop the panic form of anxiety breath deeply into a paper bag.
