ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT TERROR SUSPECT ARRESTED NEAR CAPITOL
Amine El Khalifi, a 29-year-old Moroccan man of Alexandria, VA, was arrested Friday near the U.S. Capitol as he was planning to detonate what he thought was a suicide vest that undercover FBI operatives gave him. El Khalifi was taken into custody with a nonworking gun and inert explosives according to a counterterrorism official. El Khalifi, who was under constant surveillance, believed he was working with an al-Qaida operative on the plot after he expressed interest in killing at least 30 people and considered targeting a building in Alexandria, a restaurant, a synagogue, and a place where military personnel gather in Washington before settling on the Capitol.

According to court documents, El Khalifi even went with undercover operatives in January to a West Virginia quarry to practice detonating explosives. El Khalifi came to the U.S. when he was 16 years old and is not believed to be associated with al-Qaida. He had been under investigation for nearly a year and had overstayed his visitor visa, which expired in 1999, making him in the country illegally. El Khalifi was first reported to authorities by a former landlord who thought the man was making bombs. Police are close to arresting one of El Khalifi’s associates, also a Moroccan living here illegally, on other charges.

OBAMA ‘SANDBAGGING’ IMMIGRATION POLICY AND GAINING VOTES

Suspicion is rising across the country as to whether the president is pandering to the Latino voting bloc by going to extreme measures of involving the executive branch in immigration law enforcement. Center for Immigration Studies director of policy studies Jessica Vaughan pointed to the recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement settlement that awarded $350,000 to 11 illegal immigrants in New Haven, CT, and terminated their deportation proceedings after the individuals were arrested in the “sanctuary city.”

Vaughan explained to The Daily Caller that the Obama administration chose “not to defend the actions of its agency in doing its routine job,” and chose instead to reward amnesty. Likewise, Federation for American Immigration Reform spokesman Bob Dane says that the Obama administration has “de-emphasized” immigration enforcement in non-border areas and that “there’s massive amnesty occurring behind the scenes.”
