NEW YORK — U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer says he has a lot of faith in New York City’s police commissioner, and the department’s anti-terror force is one of the best in the nation.
Schumer was asked his thoughts Sunday on the NYPD following an Associated Press report that detailed how intelligence detectives monitored Muslims in the city in the years following the Sept. 11 terrorist attack.
The New York Democrat says as far as he can tell, the NYPD is looking at public information and he doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with that. He says stifling counter-terror efforts would be a mistake.
