There are some state-level legislative initiatives of note dealing with the threats from Shariah and Jihad that may be of interest to all of you:

1. In South Dakota, the Free Speech Defense Act, authored by Senator Dan Lederman passed the South Dakota Senate unanimously and the House 64-6. This legislation, similar to legislation already passed in New York, Florida, California, Illinois, Tennessee, Louisiana, Utah and Maryland, protects Americans from the lawfare tactic commonly used by Islamists known as libel tourism to suppress free speech, and especially criticisms of Islam.

2. In Kansas, HB2217 by Representative Peggy Mast, which establishes the crime of Female Genital Mutilation in Kansas, passed the House of Representatives 123-0. During hearings for the bill, medical professionals reported some 50 cases involving FGM in Kansas, mostly in the Somali refugee community. Contrary to denials and reports in the mainstream media, FGM is in fact a Shariah-mandated and/or endorsed practice in Islam.

3. Today, in Oklahoma, Representative Sally Rogers Kern’s American Laws for American Courts bill passed the House of Representatives 81-11. ALAC prohibits courts from applying foreign laws and foreign legal doctrines in cases in which the application of that foreign law or foreign legal doctrine would result in the violation of a fundamental constitutional right.

4. SB58, the Senate American Laws for American Courts bill authored by Senator Alan Hays in Florida, passed the Senate Judiciary Committee today. No vote tally yet. Next stop is the Government Oversight Committee.

5. Texas has ALAC working in both the House (HB750; sponsor Representative Harvey Hilderbran) and the Senate (SB285; sponsor Senator John Carona). Another bill, HB1525, introduced by Representative Matt Krause, could prove pivotal in stopping such groups as the MSA from bullying school administrators into refusing to allow non-Muslim groups to speak at school facilities.
