   I endured the belt from Dad and the wooded spoon from Mom. In a pinch, a yardstick could also be handy.

   I totally agree.
   My mother used to get a skinny limb (switch) off of a tree. That sucker stung!!!
   I didn’t do that anymore (whatever “that” was!)
