NEW YORK CITY: $29 million this year to pay teachers who have been deemed too dangerous or incompetent to work in public schools.

NEW YORK — A report says New York City will spend $29 million this year to pay teachers who have been deemed too dangerous or incompetent to work in public schools.

( Mulitply this across the state and the numbers are STAGERING!)

The Daily News reports that education department records show there are more than 300 city educators who have been pulled from classrooms but are still receiving a paycheck and benefits. The educators are accused of breaking rules, underperforming in the classroom or abusing children. City officials say they can’t terminate these employees because of a laborious firing process.

Only 32 out of 72 teachers who underwent firing hearings in 2013 were let go. The others were suspended or had to pay fines.

In 2012, the city spent about $22 million paying for more than 200 reassigned teachers. rochesterdemocrat.ny.newsmemory.com/
