Inspection requirement is a veiled money-grab

Inspection requirement is a veiled money-grab

As a police officer in Irondequoit for years, I reviewed all accidents in town. I never remember any due to equipment failure. Accidents are caused by road conditions and people.

I do remember years ago any older vehicles were inspected. It makes no sense to get a new vehicle and have to pay an inspection fee. I would respect Albany more if they called it what it is — a tax.

But that is no different than what they did with the Thruway. The canal was losing money every year, so they merged it with the Thruway and raised the rates.

There is a lawsuit by the truckers, and I hope some judge says what it is — a money- making grab. And you wonder why people leave?
