Gas stations get aid for generators



WHITE PLAINS —
New York will receive a $5.1 million federal grant so gas stations in key loca­tions across the state can be wired to run on gener­ators during emergen­cies, U.S. Rep. Nita Lo­wey said Tuesday. The state last year estab­lished a federally funded program that pays for the installation of trans­fer switches at more than 1,500 gas stations near highway exits or along hurricane evacuation routes in New York City and its suburbs.
