OLEAN, NEW YORK
Heather Levia, 23, says she asked if the company could pick up the tab for the hungry first responders who had just battled a nearby fire. When she was told no, she says, she paid for the meal herself only to be fired the next day.
Her boss claims she had cursed at a superior, but Levia denies the allegation.
“I did say this is ‘freaking’ ridiculous, but it was not implied to anybody,” she told the Olean Times Herald. Tom Meyers, who owns the Olean McDonald’s, said he is an “ardent supporter” of first responders, but he has refused to specify why Levia lost her job.
