Beck To O’Reilly: Common Core Is All About ‘Control and Conform’
Glenn Beck took on the controversial Common Core State Standards on Tuesday’s edition of “The O’Reilly Factor,” arguing that it’s all about “control” and forcing America’s students to “conform.”
“You always talk about a culture war, Bill, and that’s really what Common Core is all about. It’s about taking our kids and molding them into good little citizens, how ever the state wants those good little citizens,” Beck told host Bill O’Reilly, citing a post on TheBlaze.com outlining 10 ridiculous Common Core exercises.

He also pushed back against Republicans who support Common Core like Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who he called “progressive Republicans.” While he said he didn’t to speak for the politicians on why they support the controversial initiative, he said their ties to big business could have something to do with it.
As noted in his new book “Conform,” Beck brought up a 2009 speech by Bill Gates in which he talks about creating a “large uniform base of customers” while promoting Common Core.
“It will unleash a powerful market of people providing services for better teaching,” Gates said in the speech. “For the first time there will be a large uniform base of customers looking at using products that can help every kid learn and every teacher get better.”
