QUILT Y!! Leonard Redon:

Rochester Deputy Mayor Leonard Redon, who was arrested on a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge in March, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge Friday.

Redon was arrested March 19 after State Po­lice pulled him over for speeding on Interstate 490. He failed several parts of a sobriety test, registered a 0.13 percent blood-alcohol level and originally pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor DWI charge.

“Len has expressed deep regret for his lapse in judgment,” Mayor Lovely Warren said in a statement. “There is pre­cedent under previous ad­ministrations for allowing individuals to continue to serve following a misde­meanor plea, as long as the transgression was not on city time or relat­ed to city business and their employment rec­ord was meritorious, as is the case with Deputy Mayor Redon.” A City Court judge ruled this summer that the traffic stop and ar­rest were lawful. Re­don’s trial had been set to begin Monday. Redon has no previ­ous arrests for DWI or DUI, according to the state Department of Mo­tor Vehicles.

Warren said Redon “continues to be a highly qualified and dedicated public servant.”
