Rochester, N.Y. – An alleged burglary turned deadly Sunday morning along Arnett Boulevard in Rochester.

Police say an alleged burglar was beaten to death with a bat by a homeowner after a confrontation around 7:00 a.m.

The man, his wife and their four kids were all inside at the time of the incident. None of them were hurt. Police say no charges have been filed and the family is cooperating with the investigation.

People who live in the area say the incident came as a shock to what they call a quiet street.

“Sweet people. Very sweet people. Never heard nothing bad about them and we really don’t hear anything bad about anyone on this street,” Kelly Johnson says.

“It’s very concerning because we like to keep everything safe for our community and our children but it can happen on anyone’s watch,” Carl Canty says.

Police have not release the identity of the alleged burglar.
