Your utility bills could be rising because of the increasing costs to keep the Ginna Nuclear Power Plant running.
According to a report from Bloomberg News, Exelon, the plant’s operator, would have to charge almost 83-percent over the wholesale energy cost to make a profit at Ginna.
In a filing with the state, Exelon says that keeping Ginna in operation would cost the average RG&E customer $18 more per month.
State regulators face a deadline of next week to decide on a contract to keep Ginna running.
