We have a problem that no other Canadian media companies have: left-wing thugs physically attack our reporters.

It just doesn’t happen to any other media. But I regret that it happens to us all too frequently.

Sheila Gunn Reid, Keean Bexte and David Menzies have all been attacked by leftists for simply reporting the news. So have two of our cameramen.

This never happens to the CBC, or left-wing newspaper like the Toronto Star. Because Antifa correctly see them as their propaganda wings. They would never attack their own media allies.

That’s why they hate us — we tell the other side of the story. We tell the truth about Antifa.

Whenever anyone attacks our reporters, we sue them for assault — especially if the police do nothing. And all too often, the police do nothing.

But suing a thug for assault after the fact isn’t a solution. It’s better to not have our reporters harmed in the first place. And one of these days — God forbid — the attack could be serious.

So we have to do something that no other media has to do: we hire bodyguards.

I’m talking about professionals — trained and licensed, often former police, who know how to survey a situation and pre-empt any problems.

But professional security costs a lot of money — hundreds of dollars. Just yesterday, for example, we had to have TWO security guards accompany our reporter and cameraman in Toronto, where Antifa have been violent before.

Obviously this is priority one for me. But it’s turning into a major burden.

So I’ve set up a new fund — the Journalist Defence Fund. It’s to help cover our security costs — especially in these dangerous days.
