Good News! You can now rent a death suite for $700. I’m assuming it has to be paid up front since you’re not leaving, but nevertheless assisted suicide has been commercialized.
In Quebec, a funeral home, The Complexe Funéraire du Haut-Richelieu in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., provides a space for people to have medically assisted deaths surrounded by loved ones.
The owner Mathieu Baker, states that the services that his facilities provide include a suite where a doctor can perform Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). Baker added that his facility is a “first in Quebec” and stressed the importance of the decision stating it’s a “very personal act that should be respected and done properly.”
Killing has become a business in Canada
It should be noted that the cost of euthanasia itself is covered for free by Quebec’s medical insurance. Baker states that his room provides a more comfortable area for those looking to have the procedure outside of a typical hospital setting.
Deaths have skyrocketed in Quebec since Euthanasia was legalized by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2016. Back then assisted deaths totaled only 63, however that figure has ballooned to 3,663 for the years 2021-2022.
In 2021 alone the Quebec government spent just under six million dollars on MAiD (5,880,162), according to government documents.
