1. ABC, NBC Continue to Omit Coverage of Report Alleging WH Role in Prostitution Scandal
According to a report in The Washington Post, senior White House officials knew that an individual with the White House advance team had a prostitute spend the night with him as part of the 2012 Colombian prostitution scandal despite the White House previously denying any involvement during the official investigation. After failing to cover the story on their morning newscasts, ABC and NBC continued that blackout into their Thursday evening newscasts as well. The CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley ignored the story as well, despite the network having aired a full report on Thursday’s CBS This Morning. http://www.mrc.org/biasalerts/abc-nbc-continue-omit-coverage-report-alleging-wh-role-prostitution-scandal
2. ABC and NBC Ignore Report Claiming White House Lied About Prostitution ScandalOn Thursday morning, the Washington Post reported that senior White House officials knew that an Obama volunteer hired a prostitute during the infamous Columbia prostitution scandal of 2012 but Team Obama tried to hide such information during the official investigation. Despite the Post report, CBS This Morning was the only network morning show to acknowledge the story during its Thursday morning broadcast. ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today predictably ignored the report altogether. http://www.mrc.org/biasalerts/abc-and-nbc-ignore-report-claiming-white-house-lied-about-prostitution-scandal |
3. Rosie O’Donnell Endorses: Jimmy Carter Is ‘My Favorite President Ever’View co-host and 9/11 Truther Rosie O’Donnell on Thursday gushed over Jimmy Carter: “He’s not just a Democrat. I think he is a man of peace.” O’Donnell, who on Tuesday blamed the creation of ISIS on the United States, continued, “He is my favorite president ever and, I think, probably, the most pious human being I’ve ever met in my life.” She added, “I have tremendous respect, admiration for him and his wife.” Co-host Whoopi Goldberg offered an unimpressed shrug. She responded, “He’s okay.” The topic came up on the show after Carter spoke out, criticizing Obama’s handling of the terror group ISIS. http://www.mrc.org/biasalerts/rosie-odonnell-endorses-jimmy-carter-my-favorite-president-ever |
4. Former CNN Pundit Roland Martin Rips ‘Cowardly Bullies’ at the NRAIn a Thursday column for The Daily Beast, former CNN contributor Roland Martin attacked the supposed “cowardly bullies” at the National Rifle Association for opposing President Obama’s surgical general nominee. Martin’s op-ed follows in the footsteps of MSNBC’s Krystal Ball and NBC’s Anne Thompson, who politicized the Ebola crisis nearly a week earlier when they bemoaned that due to “Senate dysfunction and NRA opposition, we don’t have a surgeon general right now.” http://www.mrc.org/biasalerts/former-cnn-pundit-roland-martin-rips-cowardly-bullies-nra |
5. U.S. President In ABC Prime Time: ‘Right to Bear Arms’ in Constitution and ‘So Was Slavery’
ABC’s Scandal, which has a fresh episode tonight (Thursday), last week featured “President Fitzgerald Grant,” supposedly a Republican, channeling Piers Morgan as he used the State of the Union address to plead for more gun control: “How many other people’s children are we going to let die before we put a stop to this?” “Grant,” played by Tony Goldwyn, recalled how his teen son died of a “fluke” infection, but “there were thousands of people last year who lost their lives in a completely avoidable way.” He then compared gun rights with slavery: “The right to bear arms
